Job Overview

Training Manager

Our global client, a European luxury fashion retail company, is seeking a Training Manager or Assistant Manager for their team in Tokyo.

Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for planning, analyzing, developing and implementing various training programs for Point-Of-Sales (POS) talents ranging from brand heritage/value, selling skills, customer experience, product knowledge, store operation, productivity, Code of Conduct & compliance, and handling customer claims. Through follow up and coaching, it will ensure that POS leadership skills are developed by means of their competencies and POS employees are trained on the needed skills to successfully perform their jobs to deliver an exceptional client experience and deliver on sales KPIs.

    ● Ensure the best customer experience in the POS and customer loyalty to the brand via high quality service standards, and make the retail staff strong ambassadors of the brand
    ● Help support and increase overall business results by identifying and driving key areas of opportunity and learning needs on the POS level
    ● Plan, organize, adapt, implement and manage training modules for all retail channels. This role will work closely with the global retail team as well as the local Human Resources team to implement and evaluate ongoing training needs/programs
    ● Collaborate with global teams to understand the long-term vision of the company and proactively take part in the definition of training strategy and priorities
    ● When necessary, take part in the development of global training modules and adapt them to make sure they are locally relevant

    Deliver and Monitor Training Programs
    ● Plan, implement, and deliver comprehensive training programs (classroom; e-learning) including the logistics aspects (invitations, room & lunch booking) for a full roll out to stores in each channel
    ● Define and develop local training plan for each year for selling skills, product, tools, management trainings and any additional trainings based on the needs assessments
    ● Facilitate the implementation of e-learning solutions to meet retail and corporate needs with cutting-edge technologies, and propose options to advance our e-learning strategy
    ● Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of new hire training and onboarding
    ● Monitor and assess effectiveness of training program through KPIs, and propose improvement ideas
    ● Plan and manage annual training budget
    ● Source and manage external trainers if necessary

    Team Management
    ● Supervise, empower and provide coaching to team members on their day-to-day activities while improving their motivation and engagement
    ● Monitor and assess the overall performance/effectiveness of the team, and propose structural and/or talent-related improvement plan
    ● Based on the individual assessment of team members, identify their developmental opportunities and provide constant feedback

Required Skills and Experience

    ● 3-5 years of hands-on management for learning & development area – including design, delivery and train-the-trainer / role modeling experience
    ● Retail training background a must
    ● Experience with multiple delivery approaches
    ● A track record of success in a mid-large business, preferably in a retail business with a high-profile consumer brand. Fashion/apparel industry exposure a plus
    ● Experience of working under multinational culture
    ● Bachelor's degree or above.
    ● Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
    ● Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
    ● Embody brand values
    ● Native-level Japanese and business level English communication skills (verbal & writing) a must
    ● Ability to travel on a regular basis (in/out of the country)
    ● Proficient in general PC applications (Microsoft Office)
